the family sketchbook

November 26, 2008

We have this sketchbook sitting on the coffee table of our family room. It is ready for when anyone feels ready to do a little drawing, coloring, doodling, scribbling. Though, it’s more like scribbling for the babes and doodling for me…

It is wonderful seeing little hands at work, especially in a creative way.

Oh and not sure if anyone noticed that I added some once in awhile mushrooms in the shop… just in case you were interested.

this is too cute!!! we are colored pencil people here too. i like crayons, but she breaks them. i just need to keep sonya away from the pencils. she has chewed on a 12 pack before. lol! i need to get kennedy a sketchbook. i keep giving her random pieces of printer paper. keeping in a book will be more fun for her to look at when she gets to be a big girl!

one time our friend’s daughter was coloring with colored pencils in the car as we were all driving somewhere and matt said something like, “ah the sound of creativity…” don’t you just love that sound? can’t wait for kekoa to be making that sound and maybe we should get a family sketchbook too!

We have the same thing in our house. I’m always getting out the paper and crayons for my little boy, so I had decided just to set it up permanently. Throughout the day he’ll draw on about 5 occasions, whenever he feels inspired. I think it’s a good thing to have these creativity tools so easily accessible to these little ones! Hugs xx

I love this idea! This is something any family can do, and what a great thing to have to look back on when it’s filled. Do you mind if I feature this and use a photo on my blog http://copycatforest.com?

I’ve found a sketchbook is also a great on-the-go activity for my 3-year-old. I bring it and a multi-colored pen with to restaurants and on the subway, and not only does it keep her buys with creative play, the sketchbook is a great keepsake of her drawing during this time.

    Love the family sketchbook idea!

I’m visiting from Craft Crow too. This is a brilliant idea. I know the sketch book will be full in no time at all! In my family, three out of four of us just love drawing and will doodle at any opportunity.
