stuck on a title

May 12, 2010

It really is hard to get studio time in with three kids and when I do get free time, I just want to lay down. We thought I might be pregnant again, but I really don’t think so, I think I am just being lazy (or pooped out from my three babycakies). I am almost sure I am not, but if I was, then I would be done after that, for reals. I don’t go past 4. Heck! I don’t even know if we will go past 3, cause three close in age is hard. I have to admit, sometimes I secretly want a fourth, especially when I am cuddling with Soul. She makes me want another, or maybe it is that I want another just like her. Plus, boys scare me, what if the fourth was a boy, then what on earth do I do with a boy! I mean with diaper changing and all… um, I don’t want to get squirted on. Yup, I like having girls. Ben does too.
I said there would be a shop update soon and there will be, but like I said, I have been kinda lazy of late. One time recently though, I wasn’t lazy and made another dollhouse pillow that will be in the shop once I figure out when the shop update will happen.
new dollhouse pillow
It is still big and have pockets for windows, but it doesn’t open up like the giant dollhouse pillow. I am working on a GIANT one for the update… just for your information. I just got to get off my lazy bum.
And since Soul couldn’t help hold the dollhouse for the picture above, here is one just of her. I love her to pieces.
part ruby, part ben, part conan o'brien
I am almost convinced that she is part Ruby, part Ben, and part Conan O’Brien. That hair! Oh that hair, I definitely think she has Conan’s swoop. Don’t you think?
Here’s to another day of hoping to get things done!!!

    The house looks amazing.

  • Jillian says:

    she is so precious.

And if she is part Conan–way to go, she will be super cool 🙂 haha.

  • Meg says:

hahaah, she definitely has some conan hair going on there. love it!! also love that dollhouse pillow – you're just so darn creative!

I have three boys and I just had my first girl a few days after Soul (on the 28th). I must say, having a chance to have the opposite sex is so much fun. As is all the cute girly stuff! I would have been just as happy having four boys, but we love our sweet girl. And, boys are so much fun, so if you did someday have one I'm sure you'd love it! 🙂

  • Chaucee says:

Haha that is so true about the Conan hair! How adorable! I come from a family of 6 and even though it was the most exhausting thing for my parents I'm so glad that I have this many silblings. We're all tight.

  • i'm knee deep in toddler town (3 boys under 4), so I feel you. I also have wondered if I could be pregnant because of the sheer lack of energy!!

Hi, been reading for at least three halloweens now (little red riding hood, I think?) but I hardly every comment – I just enjoy the simple beauty you provide for your family.

Just commenting to say don't dare call yourself lazy! Three such small children is just plain hard work. I had three under three and, looking back, that first year with my third baby was a haze. Nice, but definitely hazy! When I went to the doctor's to have my iron levels checked, she just laughed and said “You're the one with all the babies, huh?”
Take a break whenever you feel the need – a rested and healthy mummy is a happier and better mummy.

And, yes, Soul's hair is fab. Baby 'dos are the best. 🙂

part conan means part pure-awesomeness! way to go!

  • Andrea says:

I SOOOO want one of those pillows!!! They are adorable! As is Soul!

  • ricebabies says:

Soul is delicious, but trust me, a boy…..you would love. Pure sweetness to the core, especailly for mom.

Mom of the 4 and under. ha ha

  • If Soul lived in my house, I wouldn't get a single thing done, because I wouldn't be able to stop staring at that adorable face. More and more pics!!

  • I can relate to the feeling tired all the time – and I only have 2! But possibly you might want to check with your doctor that you're not anaemic? Also, I wanted to let you know that I was inspired by one of your projects a little while ago, but just got around to posting my version of it on my blog yesterday. You can see it here if you're interested: http://onescrappydoctor.blogspot.com

I have been in the same slump! Don't know what it is. I was wondering if I could be pregnant too, but I doubt it.
I also have three kiddos. my first two were girls, third a boy and let me tell you, I didn't know what to think about boys until I had one and oh my, am I ever in love! The boy has my heart in a special way that I just can't describe. You wouldn't regret it 🙂 not that you were thinking you would, but seriously, they're wonderful.

  • i KNOW what you mean about being lazy! i have soo many projects i need to sew, but i am soo lazy! my parents were here for the past week and my mom pushed me to make 2 aprons and a bow… since she has left, nothing. btw, love your writing style and i'm sure you'd be able to manage with a boy, but the squirting would not be fun.. haha

  • Kristi says:

How much do you sell these for Ruby? So curious.

  • Nelle says:

Your little ladies are as gorgeous as ever.

I'm another who thinks maybe get your iron levels checked, drink water, maybe go some probiotics, etc, etc – you're married to a nutritionist, so I'm sure you know the healthy drill. 😉

Still, with little ones, you might be forgetting to maintain your own health. Take care, wishing you more energy soon. xo

when I was good with three kids, and so not wanting another baby OR boy, I got exactly that…
    baby #4…a boy.

And he is the greatest gift from God ever.
Remember…we are not the ones making the plans!!!!

Good luck with getting things done…I have been trying to get things done for years now!!!!

I know you didn't mean any thing by it and it's your own personal opinion but boys are awesome. I'm so close to my son, it's crazy. I adore him, I like have a crush on him. Mothers and sons have a special bond, ask any mother with boys and girls. When I was pregnant with my son, so many moms told me “you're lucky, boys are easier…I'm closer to my son than my daughter…” and so on. I do understand the connection now that he's older. You're entitled to your preference and I understand that but so many moms that wish for those girls, have no idea what they are missing out on with boys. They rock just as much, if not more!
Your Soul, btw, is the cutest baby I've seen in bloggerland, hands down!

  • Asha says:

Before I get any hate mail, let me clarify: I adore MY kids equally, just differently. I'm very close to my daughter too. Other people's comments to me while I was pregnant were their opinions and I'm just saying now I understand what they meant. Boys are more chill, girls are more work with their emotions and drama. They are different but both wonderful. I thank God everyday for giving me one of each.

  • Renee says:

Oh Ruby, before you know it they will be older and you'll have more free time…no more diaper changing,no more potty training, etc…the time goes by too fast,my 3 are now 11,13, & 15 (all girls) & I have been wanting another baby for a long time…I wish I could convince my husband…but he wants a boy,I want another girl. 🙂 Girls are so fun!As for Soul…yep, she's part Conan….I mean look at how she took over the blog a few days ago, she's such a comedian! 🙂 You are not lazy, you're just exhausted….who wouldn't be,it gets tiring & you do way more than some moms do with their kids…you're a busy gal! 🙂 I hope I do have me another girl so then I can get one of those giant dollhouse pillows that I am in love with! I would love to see you have another babycake maybe when Soul is past the baby stage so you don't feel like you have twins, then you'd be really tired with 2 babies. 🙂

  • Becky says:

    Love that hair!

  • jozen says:

i am scared of boys too!

  • Rachael says:

I must say, I was totally terrified of having a boy–I came from a family of 5 girls and my first two babies were girls. But there is a special place in my heart for my son that didn't even exist with my girlies–he's now ten months old and I totally worship him. Amazing how your mother love can expand and overflow past what you thought were rock-solid boundaries! (and I was completely petrified of the whole diaper-changing thing; I think it was only an issue the first week or two, and only my hand got wet!)

  • Rachael says:

oh–and can I also say–I have three little ones too (the oldest just turned 5 a month ago)–you are NOT lazy! I think in the stage of life we're in, keeping everyone fed, clean, and happy is truly a major accomplishment. but make sure you're taking some time for yourself too, like a couple other people commented–I know that for me, if I don't go running, I have zero energy all day long to give to the kids. of course, the hard thing is finding time for yourself and getting enough sleep when you have nursing babies who are up all night!

anyway, as a fellow mother who's in the trenches of adorable-but-demanding-young-children, I just wanted to wish you support and send good thoughts your way. and also, I really love how you talk about your faith on your blog. Mine is a huge part of my life too, and I wish we saw more of this in the blogosphere! Kudos to you for making it clear how important your faith and your family are; I love stopping by your blog because you're always so upbeat about your experience as a mother–which is exactly what I need to hear as I mother my own! 🙂

  • The Bee Hive says:

I'm with ya! We used to think 5 or 6, but now we're happy with 3…it's tough work having them so close…to be honest, I'm just vain at the moment… I'm really really wanting my body, sans pregnancy EVER again…hubby has a different idea though…so, we'll see…I hate not knowing if we'll expand…such a planner!

Beautiful girls, your blog was the one place where my “girl anxiety” was relieved as I felt just the same way about having a girl!
