True’s allergic to peanuts, so instead of peanut butter cookies, we do sunflower butter cookies. This is my take on the sunflower butter cookie. Sunflower butter isn’t for everyone. If you would much rather have peanut butter, which I happen to like much better, just substitute the sunflower butter for 1 cup peanut butter and you can add more sugar to the recipe, but I try to lessen it a bit for moderation’s sake. Plus, I put in chocolate chips, so I think that is plenty sweet right there. Before I put them in the oven, I sprinkled some with sugar, and others I sprinkled with salt. Your choice, do you want savory or sweet? I think I am more a sweet person, but savory is a nice change once in awhile.

The girls ate them up, so I guess I had happy customers. Share me some of your favorite cookie recipes!

      she is technically, but we have been introducing it to her slowly and she hasn't been reacting at all. the doctor said as long as we do it slowly, she may outgrow her allergies. it seems to be working!

    Just thought I'd share my favorite recipe- I usually leave out the Hershey's bars and marshmallows and just use chocolate chips and sometimes pecans!

    S’Mores Cookies
    3/4 cup butter β€” softened
    1/2 cup white sugar
    1/2 cup packed brown sugar
    1 egg
    1 teaspoon vanilla extract
    1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
    1 cup graham cracker crumbs
    1/2 teaspoon salt
    1/2 teaspoon baking soda
    1 1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate
    1 cup (more or less) of marshmallows (not large style)
    2 Hershey Bars, broken into pieces
    Beat together butter and sugars until light and fluffy. Blend in egg and vanilla. Add combined flour, graham cracker crumbs, baking soda and salt. Mix well. Stir in chocolate chips and (if using) other stuff.
    Drop dough by heaping tablespoonfuls onto greased cookie sheets about 3 inches apart.
    Bake in pre-heated oven 375 degrees F (190 degrees C) for 8 minutes. Remove and quickly press marshmallows and chocolate into cookies. Return to oven and cook until done (about 3 or 4 more minutes)

    If you're leaving out the marshmallows and chocolate bars, just leave them in for 11 or 12 minutes instead of taking them out. These are perfect because while they may be decadent, they're the perfect mix of salty and sweet. It this tells you anything, I've gotten marriage proposals over them. They're that good.     We love peanut butter cookies in our house, sunflower butter
    might be an interesting twist. I make a mean peanut butter cookie with toffee and pretzels!

  • You inspired me! I just made an adaptation of these today for my allergic kiddo. I used almond butter instead of sunflower. I also substituted the sugar and egg for a mashed banana and added 1 tsp baking soda. Flourless, eggless, peanutless, but absolutely delish!

    I'm going to make these today! My daughter has a peanut allergy so we always have sunbutter in the house (you can usually find it in the grocery store either in the natural foods section or near the peanut butter…). I've contemplated making cookies with it, but was never brave enough. So excited!

    I tried these with normal Peanut Butter, dark chocolate chunks and coarse brown sugar. They turned out great and not too sweet. My family approves. Thank you! πŸ˜€
