The Foam Fest is my second run and we ran it as team “Bad to the Foam”. It was a 5k, but it wasn’t constant running because there were a whole lot of hills, like steep hills and steep downhills, and some waiting in line for the foamy stuff. Overall though, this was a fun run and it is best done with good company (like sexytay and new friends… hi angela!) and with Ben (and Melody) watching from the sidelines. This definitely was good practice to see how I would do on an obstacle course race filled with water and mud. I think I feel slightly more ready for the Zombie Run, but I am still so nervous about that one. Good thing it’s in October and not tomorrow.

Lance, my friend who made the video, does tons of these races that I think he should turn this into a career of sorts… you never know. Enjoy the video, it’s good and you will wish you were part of our team! Oh and watch us on the tube crossing here, the end is funny! See the last run here.

on me: bandana, ben’s. ripped up shirt and vest, thrifted. iron-on, made by ben. boy shorts & board shorts c/o lime ricki (can’t see them under the board shorts). shoes, old new balances.

p.s. just curious, anyone do the zombie run yet? it has already started touring on the east coast. if you have, let me know because i have a question for you!

Great photos! The race looks crazy awesome, great weather. I did the zombie run in baltimore last year, I might be able to answer your question. Thank you for the post!

    • Rubyellen says:

chris- how do they do the waves? are they pretty strict on your wave time that you signed up for? we're hoping to be able to do an earlier wave time than the one we signed up for because most of our friends signed up for an earlier one.

    • Chris says:

rubyellen- for each wave they line you up in a large tunnel that is split into three sections 1. for fast runners 2. for medium runners 3. for slow runners/walkers (cept you will want to run, haha) and they stagger y'alls starts.

they were not strict when i was there, and you could sneak in easily as most people were confused as to which wave they were actually running in. the only reason that you would want to stay in your own wave is so that you are timed, otherwise they will not time you since your time is connected to your wave. however, you can call or email them i think to change your wave to your friend's wave at [email protected]

I hope this helps, and I think you will have a great time no matter what haha, its fun to watch other people try to outrun the zombies before your wave! 🙂

    • Rubyellen says:

thanks chris! yeah, they ran out of times in the wave time most of my friends are doing, so i wanted to see how flexible it is just to get in on their time. i don't care about getting timed, so that is good to know! i did email them and they said we couldn't change, so let's hope you're right and we can still run with our friends! that makes the whole fun of it. i for sure will be running and screaming my head off! thanks, your tip helps!

yay! glad to see your foamfest pictures… what time was your run? Mine was at 12 (but we ended up joining the 1130 one). And I agree the hills were insane! Are you doing the Run For Your Life run? I believe it's at the same venue @ Vail Lake. That should be fun!!!

    here's my run: http://www.bolubyrima.com/2012/05/things-i-love-monday-week-21-foam.html

never knew about Foam Fest. thanks so much for sharing. i would totally join if they have it in NY. i've done Merrell's Down and Dirty which is a mud run that was oodles of fun! i also participated in the zombie race last Oct. & didn't have such a great experience, not to scare you. don't think you have to worry about the waves. there's so many people they can't really keep track. i know your not worried about your race time but your time chip doesn't activate until you run across the start line. btw i just started blogging ^-^ & i wanted to share my Run For Your Lives post with you.
