our tuesday

January 23, 2013

tuesdaystuesdaystuesdaystuesdaystuesdaystuesdaysTuesday was a very productive day, but maybe that’s because I woke up at 3:30am and couldn’t go back to sleep, so I had breakfast, spent some quiet time reading my Bible (encouraged by this post to start at the beginning of your day), then started working and doing stuff around the house. I put on pandora and had the Crystal Lewis station on all day and it felt good. I was able to clean some parts of the house and work on other things that needed to get done. Β All the messes aren’t gone, but it just feels a little bit better to sort through some of them. We have tons of messes everywhere, so I don’t think the messes will ever completely disappear.

The big girls were off at school and it was just me and the babies. I had two cups of tea to keep me going, lunch at 9am, and was singing all day long. I almost wish I would wake up that early everyday to get things done because it’s hard to get things done once the girls are awake and fighting. Realistically though, I love my sleep. Typically, Ben and I wake up between 5:30-6am to work out, which I think is still pretty early.

Are you an early riser or can you sleep well into the afternoon if that were allowed? I never really slept past 9am when I was in college, sleeping in more than necessary always made me more tired. My motto was wake up early, get everything done that needs to get done early in the day, and then you have the rest of the time to play.

  • I love productive days like that! My oldest rarely ever sleeps through the night and sometimes gets up for the day as early at 4am and even on the days when he doesn’t get up early, I always feel better starting my day as early as I can. Then about once or twice a month, we have major sleep in days, where nothing gets done and we all just lay around haha! I guess it balances out, right?

i WISH i could wake up early to work out! i can barely drag myself out of bed by 8 AM each morning + sometimes i don’t! i am the worst in the mornings but come night time, i can never fall asleep. my kiddo is great about snuggling in bed though so we take a few extra minutes in the morning staying in bed just to wake up.

once she’s up, i always attempt for a productive day but it doesn’t always happen. when it does, it feels great though!

I’m exactly like you! I’d rather get up early and be productive….it’s a good feeling. If I ever sleep in, it’s until about 8am! You’re right, sleeping just makes me more tired. It’s also easier to keep your body on a semi-regular sleep schedule.

  • I also have to wake up early but my little girl Sofia (she’s only 1 and a half) loves to sleep until late so we usually wake up early (5:00 – 5:30) to workout and she’s usually awake when we are done with our early morning activities. In the beginning was hard (specially for me) to wake up that early but once you get used to it you’ll be able to get the hang of it.

I go to bed so late and then I can’t wake up in the am, its so hard!!!
Glow’s leggings are so cute! She is so big and beautiful and so is Soul!

Ok seriously? Your babies are SO beautiful! Love Glow’s pigtails πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚
I looove waking up early, before the sun rises, before anyone else in the house. But with a new baby in the mix, I’m sure it will take a bit of time before I get into that routine again. πŸ™‚

  • And I think that when we are woken up by our youngest at 5:30 am we are very early πŸ˜€

Adorable babes you have. And I understand those messes. My resolution for this year is to accept the messes. It feels liberating.

When did Glow get so grown up?!?!

  • My mom wakes up at 4:30 every morning to start her mornings with her Bible reading, and her example of doing this daily inspired me as well, though I wake up at 5:30. I think it is amazing that she has done it since becoming a Christian in 1973 or something like that. That’s dedication and commitment. I love that the first thing to feed into your soul is God’s Word! There is nothing like it!

I’ve been waking up early since I was 7. . .it stuck ever since. If I sleep to 7, I am amazed. One of my best friends can sleep until 11AM or noon, and I feel like she misses out on the whole day while she thinks I’m insane for being up so early. I only need to run on 6 hours of sleep.

It is good that you work out and are devoted to doing so. My husband used to run each day but it is so cold here (it was 4 degrees today) that he doesn’t want to even try hahaha. I forget sometimes that you live in warmer weather though. I am glad you had a great day with your little ones!

Given the choice I would be a late riser but sometimes I find myself awake and unable to sleep a 3am. I also have four daughters. Your post makes me reflect that I should cherish the silence and use the opportunity to reflect at that time rather than filling the void with my iPod.

I just have to say, I love the “younicorn” and the kidycat”….kid spelling is the best. Glad to hear you had such a productive day…and it’s nice to see that other grown-ups like myself still love their sleep. I always feel like I would be perceived as a lazy kid rather than a responsible mom if I admitted how much I love to sleep in πŸ™‚

That kind of day sounds really perfect. I love checking things off my to-do list and keeping the clutter under control. Like a breath of fresh air. I loooove that string of colorful lights you have in one picture above! Could you please tell me where to find it? I have been wanting one for so so long but haven’t seen them sold anywhere. My email is [email protected]. Thanks Rubyellen!
