This girl is obsessed with animals and calls them baby, so we knew her attention would be absolutely captivated by all the animals at the zoo. Her favorite were by far the pandas; she didn’t want to leave them! We let her bring her “baby” along and she was so cute hugging that thing everywhere and ooh-ing and ahh-ing at all the animals.

All the animals are just so amazing. We marveled at the uniqueness of every single one. Like giraffes, they’re gorgeous creatures, but when you really look at their face, it’s kinda freaky looking (to me). Bravey’s favorite were the spider monkeys. No surprise there since her favorite is Spider-Man. We saw most animals at the zoo, but we did end up getting year passes, so you can be sure we will be back again for another visit.

We ended the day grabbing pizza locally before making the long drive back home. It was the perfect way to celebrate our littlest loves 2nd birthday!

on me: dress, handmade by me. shoes, new balance. on true: dress, c/o panache box (I want it in my size!). shoes, salt-waters. on brave: dress, little esop. pants, c/o panache box. shoes, old navy. on soul: dress, vintage. shoes, salt-waters. on glow: birthday dress, handmade by me. shoes, salt-waters.

Beautiful picture! When was her birthday? We went to the zoo for our daughter’s birthday too (on Friday)! What a coincidence! Happy birthday to Glow!

Great photos Rubyellen. I’ve never thought to celebrate birthdays that way before and I love it
    What fabulous memories you’ll keep.
Love your blog posts and how you keep your life real. Patenting a a hard job and dome days I miss the goal posts by a long shot. Knowing you’re living the challenges too makes me feel somewhat better and the Christian aspect is where I’m at too. Much love and hugs

Thank you for the encouragement Denise! Which goal posts do you miss? Do you mean on my blog? I always feel, for me at least, that if I don’t share the bad days I have too, this place wouldn’t be an accurate portrait of who I am and what I believe in. Blogs are so beautiful (mostly), but I think it makes us have these inaccurate view of what our lives are supposed to look like, that I want to be balanced as possible in this space. It’s not always about the seemingly beautiful things, but also about those hard days too. Together both make a beautiful picture when we’re able to step back and see life as a whole.
