happy girls

February 4, 2014

the girlsthe girlsthe girlsThe baby is the only one I dress. The rest, take care of their own. I’ll try to interject my say, but really, when I’m trying to get all 4 out of the house, I’m cool with whatever, as long as it’s weather appropriate. I love looking back through the blog and seeing the different phases they go through. Soul’s newest thing is sneakers or the red cowboy boots (anyone remember her tuck the dress into leggings phase?!). Brave typically wears red or blue on (or both), and this comes from her love for Spider-Man. True tries to mimic what I wear (and sometimes Ben), and Glow’s still my doll. I’ll keep playing dress up with her for as long as she lets me.

I love having 4 daughters! When we’re out people will often say something to us about trying for a boy, or assume we kept going for a boy, but really, we are really glad we ended up with a house full or girls. It’s the best!

on me: dress, thrifted. boots, piperlime. bag, humble hilo. on true: jacket, c/o guess kids. skirt, misha lulu. shoes, old navy. on brave: shirt, c/o old navy. skirt and leggings, misha lulu. shoes, gap kids. on soul: dress, misha lulu. boots, thrifted. on glow: dress, misha lulu. sweater, old navy (really old!). shoes, c/o old navy.

  • Your girls are so cute!
I have two daughters and I’m pregnant with another girl which my husband and I are both over the moon about. We both wanted all girls so we’re happy with how things have worked out.
People are always asking if we’re hoping for a boy this time around and it’s amazing just how upset many of them seem to be when they find out it’s another girl. I’ve even had people apologize when I’ve told them that baby number 3 will be a girl. How crazy is that?

I know what you mean, Sally. I have three girls and we didn’t find out what our third was before we had her. We really wanted to be surprised. I wasn’t hoping one way or another, and was surprised to find myself cringing when someone said ‘I hope you have a boy.’ When they announced in the delivery it was a girl, I was again surprised to feel relief, and a feeling hard to explain- as if a hidden part of me was secretly wishing for a girl all along. I was overjoyed. Others are so funny though!
Congratulations on another unique, special, sure to be beautiful little girl!

I know same for us! We really had no preference one way or the other when I was expecting. Everyone just assumes you want you both, so if you have girls you want a boy (and vice versa), I was just thankful period. Having 4 girls does save us some money though! I would have been just as thankful had we had a boy.

  • the four of you look beautiful no matter the outfit

When I made my pregnancy announcement I made the following declarations:

1: Yes we were trying for a 3rd.
2: No, we weren’t trying for a girl.
3: If it’s another boy, we are not “trying” for a girl, we are done.

We just wanted another baby and were okay with whatever God gave us. I know it’s the natural line of questioning as just about everyone asks it, but I still don’t like it. We’ll fall in love with the baby all the same no matter what gender!

I know exactly what you mean! We have 3 girls and looove it. People say the boy comments to my husband, and he absolutely loves a house of girls, probably because every one of them is a Daddy’s Girl. What’s up with that? Sometimes I wonder if I had a boy one of my children might prefer me to my husband. I guess I’ll never know.
    Your family is too cute!
