family beach day

August 29, 2016

We had a good last hurrah on our last week of summer… we had A-day, went to the beach, and Ben and I even went away for the weekend. My parents planned this family and friends beach day, and they came equipped with everything for a full and fun day under the sun. They brought food, volleyball equipment, sand toys galore, umbrellas, tents, frisbees, and tug-of-war! We had so much fun relaxing and playing.

The hit of the day was the tug-of-war. We played so much and tried all sorts of team combinations. My favorite was seeing my kids versus my parents. My girls were so serious about it and trying with all their might to pull the rope. The game finally ended after my sister ended up ripping some skin from holding onto the rope too tight. Ouch!

I’m glad my parents gathered all of us for a family day at the beach. We seldom go to the beach, so it was such a pleasant afternoon enjoying this bit of California we don’t enjoy often enough. I’m hoping this big family and friends beach picnic becomes an annual thing!

It was lovely to look at your happy day at the beach while I catch a little break from my family. Of all the mama blogs I follow, yours is miles ahead in sincerity and sweetness. I know these blogs are a business and content is planned and real life isn’t always pretty and fun but you do a fine job of sharing a little part of your life with your readers. You only had two little ones when I first found you looking for kid friendly craft ideas. I don’t mean to sound judgemental of anything anyone else is doing ….I just read a nice article today about letting people know when you appreciate them and give encouragement. “Gracious words are like honeycomb….sweetness to the soul and health to the body”~Proverbs 16:24 So I just wanted to let you know I love your blog, You’re super talented and your husband and girls are so cool. All the best.

Thank you so much! This encouragement of yours means so much! I totally understand what you are saying. And I always wonder how to balance my space, where I’m thankful for the opportunities that have come from it, but this is always still my space, where I love celebrating and sharing tidbits of my life (good and bad). I started blogging to join this community of creative people, and to celebrate things I loved and made, and I’d like to think I’ve been consistent through the years. 🙂
