a rare moment

March 16, 2009

Ben let me indulge a bit last weekend when we went to Santa Monica Pier. It is just too pretty (and fun) to resist. The cotton candy was calling my name…
sweet as gold
the tootsie roll
cotton candy
she said no!

My girls are so good (rather, well trained) that they both were strongly refusing any cotton candy. I would try to touch their lips with it and they would fiercely reject it and say, “No!” Training, I tell you… training. I mean, who says no to cotton candy, except the daughters of a dietitian father.

Me on the other hand, well, I just couldn’t refused. Plus, the sugar high after just feels good!
Hope your weekend was just as sweet as cotton candy!!!

a new day and new era

January 21, 2009

We honored yesterday’s inauguration by making our own little patriotic cupcakes…

inauguration cupcakies
Red velvet, cream cheese frosting, and blue sprinkles made the perfect little combination…
red white and blue

It was so amazing to see history played out right in front of our eyes. I have learned that if you wanted him or not, it is very important to pray for the new leader of America, no matter who it is…

May the next 4 years be filled with many cupcakes (don’t forget the veggies!!!)…

The contest will end today and I will share the three that we will vote on this coming Friday. Don’t forget to get any last ideas in before midnight PST.

so so sweet

December 23, 2008

The Christmas sweets, which I like to call “chocolate crispies,” are officially packaged and ready to giveaway. Though I think I ought to make a bunch more because I am short a few on my list. I guess it isn’t really good that I go “one for this box and then 2 for me.” Yeah, not so much. I guess I will make more today.

Chocolate Crispies Recipe
(as made by mama who taught me years ago)
Ingredients:
1 – box of regular corn flakes
6 – big bars of Symphony chocolate (tastes the best, especially with toffee)
1. Melt the chocolate in a double boiler of sorts.
2. Dump the box of corn flakes in a big bowl.
3. Dump the melted chocolate in the big bowl of corn flakes.
4. Mix and mix, but try not to smash too much.
5. Using a tray with parchment paper atop, drop spoonfuls of the chocolate coated corn flakes.
6. Stick in the fridge for a few hours so the chocolate can mold the crispies together.
7. Take out and eat, and share (if you are able to).
This makes for such a quick yummy sweet and guaranteed to be loved by everyone, especially if you use the Symphony chocolate.
There is still so much to be done and my house is a mess… yikes! I will attempt to clean it sometime today in the midst of my errands and more present and crisipies making.

Happy merrymaking today!!!

i love to take pictures

My Babe-ilsicous and both my babyCakies are my favorite subjects, but fruit works just as well (just not as gorgeous as them)…

Taking pictures is a lot of fun (so is eating fruit).

yuck

Describes exactly how I feel…

I caught some nasty bug and it is making my throat hurt and my body feel all achy. Though the upside is that I am being waited on hand and foot, whatever I want at my beck and call, so this is kind of nice. Want pumpkin pie for breakfast? I got it. Want Thai soup for dinner? I got that too. I think you get the picture and it is all cause my Babe-iliscious loves me so much!

So off I go to enjoy more soup my Babe-ilicious has brought me to eat in bed…
As much as I love the pampering, I hope to get better soon cause 2 days stuck in bed is kinda getting boring… and there is so much to do!

the midday omelet

November 12, 2008

The husband didn’t know what he wanted for lunch, so I threw this together for him…

Left over pinto beans and chopped up broccoli sauteed in some extra virgin olive oil and red pepper. Cook the egg whites with cheese, stick the sauteed veggies and beans in the middle, fold it over, then flip it over and “tada!” Now you’ve got a midday omelet. Omelets are my Ben’s favorites.
Shop has been updated with the once in awhiles. Each Lela is wearing an extra special something, ready for her cold trip home, wherever that may be…
