This little one is sick today and has croup. Pray it doesn’t get worse please.
I am blogging with one hand and probably won’t to get to post today’s polaroid. Maybe tomorrow. For now we will all be in bed cuddling (maybe watching some hulu) and doing all we can to keep Soul from crying.
aww,I hope she feels better.I hate when babies are sick b/c you don't know what makes them feel better or worse….all you can do is give them meds and hold them….I'm sure she will feel better soon.I just feel bad that she has to feel bad even for a little while.she's so cute….love that hair. 🙂
Oh, I feel for you… it is so hard to go through that with your little one. I used to take Caroline out into the cool evening air and she would be fine outside. But that was only after we had gone to the e.r. and I realized it. I will say a prayer for Soul and for all of you!
She is the cutest little thing. One of the biggest stressors for me as a parent is when the kids are sick. I absolutely hate that I can't do anything about how bad they feel. Hang in there, it just takes time. God bless!
my number 3 gets croup AllTheTime, he was whisked off to hospital in an ambulance at 1.30am when he was only 8 weeks old. freaked my heart right out! he's 2 1/2 now and still gets it regularly (just this week in fact)…so i know how you feel. cuddles work wonders 🙂 xoxo
ugh i had croup alllll the time until i was about 7 years old. however it does leave me with lovely memories of my dad filling the bathroom with steam and then carrying me out into the cold night air so i could breath hot steam and then cold air. it really helped the croup and made me feel so loved and secure as a little girl.
oh no, sorry to hear about her having croup. We've had our fair share of croup in this house….ever since my middle little guys first winter. Our eldest never once had croup, but both the youngest and middle monkeys have and more than just a few times. It's no fun. Hoping she feels better soon.
She is such a dollie! She's a little bit younger than my little boy Bryn, so it's fun to see how similar their actions are.
I had actually had a question about your polaroid cameras! I am hosting a surprise going away party for friends and would LOVE to take pictures of the families coming and put them in a book for the family. Well, I've called two places and they say that film is not sold for polaroid cameras anymore. Is this true? I know you do lots with yours, so advice?
She's so adorable. And all that hair. Lucky! So sorry she is sick. I hate when babies are sick…it's breaks the heart. But sounds like she is doing better.

About Cakies
From crafts to parenting & everything else in between. Cakies celebrates family, style, abounding grace, and living life creatively.
I have a large growing pile of fabric scraps. I refuse to throw them away because I am sure they can be used for something. I have been seeing different types of interesting necklaces made of buttons, beads, and fabric. Then, I figured why not make one out of my scraps...
I think it made my white shirt a little less boring. This was so quick and easy to make.
How to make a recycled scraps necklace (which is very similar to the straps on my braided tablecloth bag):
1. Take your scrap fabric, I cut a .5''-1'' snip and tear the rest of the fabric down for a nice frayed edge. Used 3 different fabrics for each strand.
2. Take 3 of the torn pieces and tie the ends together with a rubber band.
3. Braid the 3 pieces together and tie ends together with rubber band when done.
4. Repeat steps 2 & 3 for more strands. Remember you can make the strands any length you want, if run out of fabric, just weave more into the braid.
5. Once all the strands you want are braided, gather one end of each strand together and straight stitch together with sewing machine. Repeat for the other ends of the strands. Snip off any excess.
6. Gather ends of the necklace and sew together (snip excess) or a ribbon can be sewn at the ends to be able to tie the necklace closed, but I just sewed both ends together.
7. Voila! A nice way to make use of all your lovely scraps.
Sorry if the directions get you a little lost, but it really is easy. I promise. Maybe I should put some in the shop. Please share any other good ideas you may have of things that can be made with scraps. I would love to hear (read) them!

Bless you Soul. Croup is nasty – my oldest has had it 4 times in his short 4 years of life. I pray she gets well quickly and never has it again. <3

I hope that swet faced girl feels better soon.
Hulu is the best for sick days. I'm hoping Soul feels much better soon. Sick baby cries are the easiest way to break your heart!
Hoping for a restful, exciting weekend coming up.
What a lovely name! The best for such a beautiful kid. I hope she'll be fine now and ever! 🙂
