I am over at Blog Milk today for a little interview series Ana is doing for Mother’s Day. I love her designs so much and everything over there is always eye candy, so I am honored Ana asked me! Read the interview here.ย
oh my goodness. True's question to you about loving God?!?! yeah, that definitely cued the tears. i'd say that right there is showing how great of a job you and ben are doing at teaching them to love God above all else. you're a great role model to me, just want you to know that! thanks for sharing!! ๐
great little interview! I loved it. I guess I'm kind of a lurker.. i read your blog regularly but never comment (i blame the google reader) but loved this so much. You are a beautiful mama! And those pictures are So so sweet. Not to mention True's little comment! ah love!
Okay seriously, you just need to know how Christ shines through you via the Internet. I know I don't really know you, and probably will never meet you, but I know Christ and I see him through your writing, and what you choose to blog about (and take Instagram photos of) and it's beautiful and encouraging! Please also know that you really make me want to have 4 daughters all the time! ๐ 1 Thessalonians 5:6-11
Miss Rubyellen! — have you seen that blog The Glow? Your amazing pictures totally remind me of the gorgeous photos I see there (the most soft, glowy beautiful photos of these amazingly creative mamas and their kiddos)
Loved the interview! I adore Ana, she designed my blog for me. What a happiness to see you over on her site!
I'm so encouraged and blessed by the ways that you used that interview to be a light. God is truly using you in the blogosphere to spread His truth. Love it!! ๐
Great interview rubyellen! Loved reading more about your kids. Also love that you were so open about your love for God and your desire for your kids to grow up in Him ๐
I have a large growing pile of fabric scraps. I refuse to throw them away because I am sure they can be used for something. I have been seeing different types of interesting necklaces made of buttons, beads, and fabric. Then, I figured why not make one out of my scraps...
I think it made my white shirt a little less boring.ย This was so quick and easy to make.
ย
How to make a recycled scraps necklace (which is very similar to the straps on myย braided tablecloth bag):
1. Take your scrap fabric, I cut a .5''-1'' snip and tear the rest of the fabric down for a nice frayed edge. Used 3 different fabrics for each strand.
2. Take 3 of the torn pieces and tie the ends together with a rubber band.ย
3. Braid the 3 pieces together and tie ends together with rubber band when done.
4. Repeat steps 2 & 3 for more strands. Remember you can make the strands any length you want, if run out of fabric, just weave more into the braid.
5. Once all the strands you want are braided, gather one end of each strand together and straight stitch together with sewing machine. Repeat for the other ends of the strands. Snip off any excess.
6. Gather ends of the necklace and sew together (snip excess) or a ribbon can be sewn at the ends to be able to tie the necklace closed, but I just sewed both ends together.ย
7. Voila! A nice way to make use of all your lovely scraps.
Sorry if the directions get you a little lost, but it really is easy. I promise. Maybe I should put some in the shop. Please share any other good ideas you may have of things that can be made with scraps. I would love to hear (read) them!
aw. look at your girls! love this.
