My name is Mollie, and I love Jesus. I could stop there, because that’s all that really matters, but of course, there’s more. Being creative, drinking coffee, listening to good music, and spending time with my family are also important to me, and they occupy most of my days.
Wild Olive means… Wild Olive is a term used in the Bible to describe those who have, through Jesus, been “grafted” into God’s family (Romans 12:17). From the first moment I read that, I have held onto that phrase. It’s also probably the most wild thing about me…I’m pretty conservative about a lot of things!
Her most favorite thing about blogging… Both blogging and having a shop have given me so many opportunities to meet people, both far and near, so that’s probably my favorite thing. But I’ve also been able to help some great causes through my blog and shop, which makes me very happy!

I am a working mum running a small business full time. I am wholeheartedly devoted to my family and have spent years mastering the balancing act that is working motherhood. I love my work, I love my family more. I find joy in the small moments and don’t scrimp on quality time with my family. I am also a writer (which is my true passion).
All about her blog… My blog started off as a place for me to share all things beautiful and focus on the simple things in life. I have been known to eat cupcakes in bed and I don’t mind the ‘cake crumbs’, and the beach is my happy place and I love ‘beach sand’. The name is made up of the simple things that bring me joy. The cake crumbs also refers to my love of food.
Her most favorite thing about blogging… My most favourite thing about blogging is the camaraderie of the blogging community. A lot of women write some beautiful comments in response to some of my blog posts and it opens up my eyes to the genuine good nature of people.

Another friend wed and I think my days as a bridesmaid is slowly coming to an end. Is there such thing as bridesmaid retirement? Well, at least until my baby sister gets married and I will happily come out of retirement for that. The wedding was beautiful and I am sure the pictures will come out stunning. I really can’t wait to see them. Other than that, I hope life can settle down just a tad after having back to back weddings.

So I have totally been bitten by the colored denim thing. I have mentioned (here) my desire to try them, but reluctant because Ben doesn’t think they are classic enough for me to spend our money on. Well, I got some at Urban Outfitters and didn’t technically spend my money since I used a gift card! Totally gotta love them gift cards. Ben can’t complain. Plus, though he thinks this trend won’t last past this year, he says they are kinda fun. I definitely think so.
Um, anyone wanna try kelly green ones with me? I got enough left in my gift card to do so! Seriously thinking about it…
What I’m wearing… shirt, anthropologie. necklace, a merry mishap. jeans, urban outfitters. shoes, madewell (gifted from my parents). bag, anthropologie.
This week has been busy, busy. I have a friend’s wedding that I have been prepping for this weekend and a few other busying things. Despite the frenzy I feel, I have still been trying to keep up the cooking for my family. They deserve good meals after all…
True still hasn’t taken to tofu, but Brave and Soul loved this. Ben and I did too, but I knew we would instantly. I have made spring rolls before and forget how easy it is to make. It looks like a fancier dish, but really the wrap is so simple. I am thinking a version of this using shrimp must be made very soon. The recipe didn’t come with a sauce recipe, so I kind of winged it. It turned out alright. I made the girls one using sunflower butter because True is allergic to nuts.
Tuesday I made Oven Fried Chicken and Mashed Sweet Potatoes since it was True’s request…
I have cooked that chicken dish before (see here) and oh gosh, it is still so yummy! We were all devouring it pretty quickly. The mashed sweet potatoes were similar to this, but I winged it a little more. I am really slowly getting more comfortable to trying things out not exactly like a recipe. Maybe one day I will be almost as good as Ben because that guy is just good at putting things together to make something yummy without following a recipe. I just feel more comfortable following things exactly, but hopefully I will keep learning how to break away from it.
I haven’t decided on vegetable dishes yet, but you can be sure they will be there next week! How do you do your weekly dinners? Any tips or guidelines you use for family dinners?

She got these glasses from her teacher at school and loves wearing them around. She must have gotten bit by the geek chic bug!
On our way home from school, True declared, “Mom, today I look like a school girl!” I thought her little declaration was a little bit heart melting. As frustrating as this stubborn little girl is, she is also a sweetheart.
I have a large growing pile of fabric scraps. I refuse to throw them away because I am sure they can be used for something. I have been seeing different types of interesting necklaces made of buttons, beads, and fabric. Then, I figured why not make one out of my scraps...
I think it made my white shirt a little less boring. This was so quick and easy to make.
How to make a recycled scraps necklace (which is very similar to the straps on my braided tablecloth bag):
1. Take your scrap fabric, I cut a .5''-1'' snip and tear the rest of the fabric down for a nice frayed edge. Used 3 different fabrics for each strand.
2. Take 3 of the torn pieces and tie the ends together with a rubber band.
3. Braid the 3 pieces together and tie ends together with rubber band when done.
4. Repeat steps 2 & 3 for more strands. Remember you can make the strands any length you want, if run out of fabric, just weave more into the braid.
5. Once all the strands you want are braided, gather one end of each strand together and straight stitch together with sewing machine. Repeat for the other ends of the strands. Snip off any excess.
6. Gather ends of the necklace and sew together (snip excess) or a ribbon can be sewn at the ends to be able to tie the necklace closed, but I just sewed both ends together.
7. Voila! A nice way to make use of all your lovely scraps.
Sorry if the directions get you a little lost, but it really is easy. I promise. Maybe I should put some in the shop. Please share any other good ideas you may have of things that can be made with scraps. I would love to hear (read) them!
