I think living in Portland is like living in a forest. There are trees everywhere and it is so, so pretty! I am so jealous. The trees there are quite unlike the smog-brown green trees of southern California.
Since we were on vacation, most days got to a really late start, so we grabbed a late lunch at Andina (if you are ever in Portland… you. must. eat. here.), then we drove out to Multnomah Falls and did a sort of Twilight tour (I saw where they held their prom and it totally felt like I was in Forks!). After enjoying God’s beautiful creation, we headed to Mississippi and did some strolling. It was another day of enjoying Portland and its yummy food!

hello portlandday six: portlandday six: portlandday six: portlandday six: portlandday six: portland
The first day in Portland was spent mostly in the eastside, but when I think of it, I think we spent all our days mostly on the eastside. We crossed the Williamette River often. First on the agenda was Slappy Cakes, which was so so good and we had so much fun, I wish we had one of those here! I mean, making your own pancakes right in front of you in any shape you want… what more could you ask for?!! Then, we did some shopping/looking on Hawthorne and spent a good chunk of time in Powell’s and continued the vintage hunting on Burnside. After which, we made a stop at Pix Patisserie to pick up some macarons before we headed off to Por Que No for an early dinner. That place is an absolute yum (I am craving their tacos just thinking of it)! After getting our taste buds satisfied, we headed off to First Thursday at The Pearl, where we did some art looking and more eating! We grabbed some food from the Koi Fusion and Village Creperie food trucks. I didn’t even take too many pictures cause I was pretty much stuffing my face with food all day long, but we did get lots of video of us stuffing our faces, so will share that soon.
Oh Portland… you got some good food!

On our way out, we went to went to Fremont and ate at Paseo for lunch (thanks to the suggestion from one of you) and wandered Fremont for a bit and hunted down the different art installations, such a very cool city! We bid our farewells to Washington and headed back to Oregon.
Seattle, we loved you so much. We loved your cool Autumn days and your lovely sunshine. Ben will miss your Olympic Sculpture Park (as that was his favorite place) and we wish we had a Pike’s Place next to us because we would for sure would be buying fresh seafood there all the time. We did so much this day. We took the monorail to the Seattle Center, where we went to the top of the Space Needle. Then, we trekked down to the Olympic Sculpture Park, then walked along the waterfront and had lunch at Cutters. After which, we strolled Pike’s Place and continued the walking as we took a walking tour of Pioneer’s Square.
Let me tell you that half the time, True was crying and whining as much as her four year old body could! It was a very trying day, though the pictures say otherwise. We ended the night ordering pizza and eating all together in the hotel room. It was nice to relax and put our feet up, of course with a glass of wine in hand. Despite the trials of the day (and trust me there were lots), Ben and I know that when the girls are grown and out of the house, we will definitely miss their constant whining and crying! This is all part of making memories and that is something we love to do! Thank you Lord for this opportunity!
