I was quite obsessed a couple weeks ago with making scarves and yarn necklaces galore, but then I had to stop because the holidays came and now I think I am ready to begin again.
I wish I could say that I could crochet all these fancy things, but I can’t. I can just make scarves, cowls, and necklaces. That’s about it. I can’t even do a proper flower as I guess my way through. Maybe, I should look for some tutorials. Anyone know some good and easy ones? Eventually, maybe I could learn to make a granny square, but I am not sure I would ever get it or have the patience for it. I guess, I may just stick to scarf making and make myself one in every color!
I'm no help at suggestions, but do you have any suggestions for a yarn necklace tutorial? I'd LOVe to learn! I can currently only chain stitch!
if i can learn to do a granny square, you totally can. they're really easy once you get the hang of them :).
love all of your yarn colors–so pretty!
you should definitely join Raverly.com it's a community for crocheters and knitters with loads of patterns tutorials forums and such. I am sure you could find some great info there. : ) Good luck, once you find a technique that will work for you I am sure you can make anything.
I love the colors!
http://www.ravelry.com is totally the way to go.
Have mercy! I love some beautiful yarn, but I'm hopeless as a knitter.
What a beautiful stash of yarn! Ravelry is a great resource, but also I found youtube videos to be helpful in showing certain stitches since I am a visual learner (in case you are too!).
Gorgeous yarn! I have a 1/4 finished grey scarf sitting in a drawer, it's been there for a year now…
You should do Pot holders.
Joe's mom just did slipers for us, Do hair things too!
Ohhh let me know if you find a good place (tutorial) for granny squares!!! I am a lefty and my right handed grandmother when I was a kid refused to show me….I think I am still scarred by it ha!
This tutorial is great! Really simple with gorgeous results:

… I was sewing a scarf the night before my daughters birthday and didn't have enough time to finish, so I just folded it in the shape of a purse, sewed up the sides, made a simple strap… and added a rose 🙂 so cute
love your blog, Ruby!
Hi – I think Ravelry is a good place to look, also… and check out Freeform Crochet books and websites. I think some of their ideas or even little crochet motifs hanging on i-cord would make nice jewelry. Can you tell that I'm thinking of the same idea?
just happened upon your blog + wanted to tell you that i love your shop!
I just taught myself to crochet on youtube! Seriously! It took a little while (pausing ALL the time because they go sooo fast!) but I now can make a granny square and the cuuuutest little flowers, I'm currently making a flower head band! It's definately worth learning! Have fun! PS I LOVE your blog! Anne
If you like crochet, you'll love this… I came across a great book 'The Gentle Art of Domesticity' by Jane Brocket. She has a great website http://www.janebrocket.com and there are links there to her blog and crochet tutorials.
Happy New Year from snowy Ireland!
Hi. Many people rate the tutorials on the attic24 blog (www.attic24.typepad .com) so maybe try there. Many inspirational pics too.
