Last Saturday, I was itching to try some Crunchy French Toast. I saw it on my friend Owen’s facebook and I was curious as to how it might taste because it sounded really good. I kind of followed this recipe and made an additional batch with no almonds because True is allergic. The girls loved it, but I thought it was eh. I think it was also because I used sugar free syrup and I don’t really like the taste of sugar free syrup, so that didn’t help much. The girls loved it though, so that’s all that matters. Although for tomorrow, I may just make regular French Toast and get me some loaded with sugar syrup. Yes, please.
Do you make a special breakfast for Saturday mornings?
Hi Rubyellen,
I found your blog just yesterday – it is beautiful here.
So encourage by your About page, it’s always wonderful to meet another Christian in the blogosphere.
As for Saturday breakfast, you put me to shame. It was Fruity Bites and Cheerios this morning as we caught the last hour of the Olympics opening ceremony…. 🙂

We’ve been having pancakes & berries this summer for Saturday breakfasts! Saturday family breakfasts are my favorite meal all week!
They look good!
My girls love French toast too so I’ll try this out. I’m Filipino so a special Saturday breakfast is longanisa and eggs ( something my mom always used to cook on days off)
I love French Toast! Sugar-free syrup is so gross to me. Blech. You should try using maple syrup. It’s really rich so you don’t use as much and it has minerals (especially the grade-B) so it has some redeeming value. I love it mixed with some yogurt on top.
My husband makes a special Saturday breakfast about 90% of the time! I totally love that he lets me sleep in and makes us yummy food. Oh and I’m totally with you on the syrup. We only use homemade syrup with maple flavoring, or real maple syrup, or homemade caramel syrup (mmmmmmm!!!) Always full sugar please!
