She got her breakfast in bed. She’s was counting down the whole week leading up to her birthday. The night before I said, “The faster you sleep, the sooner your birthday will come!” And she was in bed lightening fast. She woke up before any of us, but we made her stay in bed so that we could prep all the breakfast goodies. She was so cute when we finally came in singing.
She got served waffles and Ben made a banana swan. She was having a ballerina party so we got her a vintage ballet costume, which I found for such a steal on etsy, and a vintage ballerina music box. I totally knew she would be all about that music box. She carries it with her everywhere and just stares at it. I think it will be right up there as one of her faves along with her monchichi.
We had her party (there will be a later post for this as I didn’t take pictures, but this talented gal did) and then after, we took Brave and True to go watch the movie Brave. It was all Brave’s dreams come true.
I can’t believe she is already five. I remember her being born so clearly like it was yesterday. I went to my midwife visit and she gave me homework… love my husband and go for a walk. I went home and loved my husband and then we took baby True to the OC Fair for the first time and walked all night long. The next morning, my water broke and it we were off to the hospital. Suddenly, our little family of three turned to four and Ben and I had only been married a little over two years. It all happened so quickly.
Brave and True are back to back. They are 16 months apart. I remember the day I found out I was pregnant with Brave and was freaking out because I had a 6 month old and here I was, pregnant again. I think I cried for a week, not because I didn’t want her, but because how in the world do you manage two babies?!! I am so glad it happened that way. Brave is the sugar in our family. She is also True’s bestest friend. Yes, they fight, but they really love each other so much and get along so well. I am so glad they are close in age.
Though having two back to back is pretty crazy, and then having two more soon after that is just pretty much insane. We are so glad we’ve got four little ones that make all our days insanely and utterly chaotic, but yet, infinitely sweeter. This is what works for us!

She does look older! 😉 Happy Birthday, Brave! I had a ballerina party once, too!
It’s so sweet that they are best friends. It’s good to know if God has sooner baby plans than we we’ll do alright with our little baby Archer (4 mo).
I don’t know why but I had tears reading this 🙂 It’s just too cute and I can feel her excitement getting all the gifts and party and watching well, Brave.
You’re such an inspiration for the future mom in me 🙂

Happy belated birthday, Brave! It’s so sweet to see how happy she looks!
My first pregnancy was shortly after I was married for two years and my boys are 22 months apart (but 16 months is much closer obviously. One of my best friends had her first two 13 months apart and then she had he third only a year and a half after that!)
what a beautiful morning for Brave! She is sparkling with excitement!!!! Aw. I hope she had a grand day and I loved those music boxes when I was a little girl. I never had one, but knew a few who did and I’d listen to the music and stare at them all the while!
I love the breakfast in bed tradition!! I can not wait to see the birthday party pics. PS she is sooo cute… all of your girls are!
My mom had her hands full with my brother and I… She was 18 and had us back to back and she is my hero for doing that! I’m sure you will be and already aree a hero for your girls.
yay for breakfast in bed! how did the girls like the movie Brave?
Your daughters are adorable, I can hardly stop smiling!
That shot of her eating is just so precious. Happiest birthdays to miss Brave! Can’t wait to see the party pics, such a fun theme.

Happy Birthday Brave!!! Thank you for sharing your reaction to your pregnancy with her. I have two boys and got pregnant when my first was 6 month old too (my second was a premie and they are now 14 months apart, INSANE) but I had those feeling of “HOW AM I SUPPOSE TO DO THIS?” and a lot of freak outs. they are now 1 and 2 and although some days are insane me second is an amazing blessing and they are truly best friends 🙂 Love your blog and your sweet family
