This is a happy corner in my craft space. The rest are really messy corners!
This week’s learned, links, and thankfulness…
Thankful for all those who came and supported last Saturday! I had so much fun meeting and hugging all of you! You can see a couple posts (done by friends/guests) about the book launch party here and here.
If you wear a medium-large in a swimsuits, you really ought to check this vintage one out! It’s so lovely and such a good price too!
Love this quote.
My sister is an amazing soul. Read her post.
I really want to make sea salt & honey ice cream.
A new app came on scene this week put out by Oh Joy & Taza. I signed up for Pippit (look for me under @cakies) because I’m always the last to sign up for everything and Cakies always ends up taken, so I signed up for this one early (and to be able to see what it’s all about). So far I’m feeling it was two bucks not well spent, since after my exploring, it’s a bit confusing and it just seems like a glorified pinterest-instagram app. Maybe I haven’t spent much time there yet, but from what I saw so far, I don’t think it’s an app that makes life easier, in fact it’s just another one that sucks the life out of living life. That’s just my observation of course. I guess the bonus is you get to link up to products, therefore from a business standpoint I see how it would be beneficial, but from a living life standpoint, it’s just another techie thing to busy ourselves with. I’ve only spent about a total of 5 minutes on there though, so maybe I haven’t explored it enough. What do you guys think so far? If there’s something great about it that I’m not seeing please enlighten me!
Don’t mind the lighter posting this week. I think I felt the rat race blogging can be sometimes, so I took some breaks. I think that new app made me feel it even more, and while I love social media and thankful for everything that has come from it, sometimes it can be a bit suffocating too. I just needed a breather.
Have a great weekend friends!
I just bought the app last night so I’m no expert either, but I haven’t been too pleased with it so far. To me, it seems very similar to my bloglovin app but with the ability to see Instagram photos and videos as well. I like that aspect of it, but it has been very glitchy so I haven’t been able to play with it very much. I always wonder with new social media apps if they’ll become the next big thing and I’ll laugh at how I felt about it in the beginning or if they’ll just fall by the wayside and I’ll wish I had kept my $2.
It will be interesting to see how this new one does. New tech/social media things are always popping up and sometimes it just feels too overwhelming. I read reviews and some people love it, so I’m sure there are many pros about it for them.
I love the name; Pippit is catchy and cute. Making “pips” stick and saying people are “pippers” would be cute, so I think they really did a very good job with the name and branding.
Haven’t heard of that app yet. I sort of hate new sites and apps I feel like. They all do different variations of the same thing and clutter everything up. But then again, Pinterest was new at one point and we all need that. hah
How did we ever survive without pinterest?! 😉
Wow, thanks for mentioning me ruby!
Love the bathing suit…whenever I see one in an antique store I’m always mesmerized by how different they made them. The other day I saw a swimsuit from the 40’s and it was made of WOOL! Could you imagine being a vintage beauty swimming around in wool?! I couldn’t!
Also, the pipit thing. Haven’t heard much good about it actually. After everything I’ve read, I would not spend $2 just use an IG /Pinterest app combined that you can use the original IG and Pinterest for FREE. I like oh joy but not sure this pipit thing will really go far unless their fans are just dumb and will buy anything they put out. That’s just my 2 cents. 🙂

I know! I can’t imagine hanging out at the beach in wool! I think I could do cotton suit, but definitely not silk or wool.
I’m so thankful you came out and I was so happy to meet you! Thank you for sharing such lovely pictures and a wonderful post!
I love your honesty!!
Didn’t purchase the app and won’t… probably for the very reasons you mentioned above… at this point I’m looking for new ways to stay off social media and not new ways to share + consume.
This is the first time in 5 days that I’ve sat down at my computer and it feels GREAT.
xoxo
I know what you mean exactly! It always comes down to balance. My faves are blogging (obviously), instagram, and pinterest, so adding another one to that, would just not be smart (for me).
I’ve seen the Pippit app mentioned EVERYWHERE this past week… but I haven’t jumped on the bandwagon because $2+ for an app? That’s just like Pinterest + Instagram +blogs that are all mostly free? I can’t justify it. I’m glad to see an honest post about it, thanks for that!
I totally jumped on the bandwagon because I wanted @cakies. lol. I’m sure lots of people will love it, especially if they want to know product details from their favorite online personalities, so I think that will work well for some people.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts on Pippit! I feel the same way and thought that I was just missing something/ not getting it.
It was just the beginning, so maybe as time passes and glitches get fixed, our ideas may change on it.
I don’t understand the point of Pippit. If I wanna read blogs, I read blogs either by visiting them directly (free) or through feedly (free), which syncs between my phone & computer so I don’t see posts that I’ve already read again, and if I wanna look at instagram pics, I look at instagram (free). These are two different activities for me: I read blogs when I have time to actually sit and read them, like when my baby is napping, and instagram is more like when I have a few minutes to waste, like if I’m waiting for an appointment or something. Like that they are separate, so why would I pay money for an app that smooshes them together?
That’s how I do instagram and blog reading too!
It just makes sense!
Taza and OhJoy are two bloggers I have grown to love and respect, just like you and your blog. I hope that this works out for them because they seemed to work hard on it and want the best for them.
Thank you! I’m with you that they have worked hard at all they do, and I’m sure this will work out for them. I definitely wish them the best with it, and both are smart ladies and have a good following, so this will no doubt lead to more opportunities for them.
sea salt and honey ice cream sounds amazing!!
