BANANA CHOCOLATE CHIP MUFFINS

Last Friday, we made banana chocolate chip muffins. I had everything measured out and the girls did each step and wrote it down as they did it. Going through sequencing has become a baking ritual of ours. After which, True asked, “Mom, can you put this on your blog so everyone will know how to make it?”
It came out yummy, but my girls and I are pretty easy to please when it comes to sweet stuff. We sort of used this recipe, but modified it with more cinnamon, whole wheat flour, and added chocolate chips. It’s all gone now, so obviously, we loved it.
This weekend was busy with taxes and house stuff. I hate taxes, but I am sure everyone does. Also, we are doing some house renovating and getting ready to change out our nasty carpet. We are considering the brand Kährs which is made in Sweden, but there are mixed reviews online, so if any of you overseas have an opinion or know about this brand, please do share! Also, we are probably leaning toward white wood floors (yes, I know, that’s a dangerous idea, but it’s always been my dream), would love to hear your opinions on them if you have ever had them.
Gotta get through five more days until Ben is home with us for a month. Yay!!!
P.S. One of fave shops, Ms. Tips, also happens to be a sponsor, is having a 25% sale until the end of this month. So hurry!

  • LOVE seeing her words, that must have been hard work! Just had to comment on white floors… I have white wood floors upstairs and down (we painted them when we moved in, the whole house is white…) and I LOVE how light and beautiful everything is but it is impossible to keep them clean downstairs… We live in Maine so we have mud, snow and such and that might make a difference but we never wear shoes inside and I am always feeling like they look a little dirty. I have painted them 3x since we moved here (1 year ago) and now just try and embrace the nicks, scratches, stains (blueberries etc) but love the look upstairs and love them downstairs most of the time…

wow! that sounds beautiful! how about in the kitchen? do you have it there? i think our biggest concern is in the kitchen. we are thinking grey concrete in the kitchen and white wood everywhere else, but we prefer not to break the seamlessness and just have white everywhere, but it kind of scares me in the kitchen. we pretty much always have a no shoe rule in our house.

I guess I'll surprise my sunday school kids with some choc choc chips banana muffins. pretty much the same recipe u used except i omit the spices and add 1/4 cup cocoa powder…coz they love chocolate…okay fine, I LOVE CHOCOLATE. lol!

  • Those muffins look tasty! Banana is always a pleaser, plus time spent baking and enjoying the treats with the kids is the best!

ok. i literally love this. literally love your blog to be honest. it's so fun. and real. and gosh. can i say one more time that i LOVE IT?! *i'm shouting that last part.

my mom painted her bedroom (now my little sister's room) floor white when we moved in. it used to be red! 🙂 of course painted floors get nicked, but being a bedroom, it doesn't get super dirty.

just my two pennies of thoughts.

tell true thanks for the directions! 🙂

YUM-MY!!! Looks so good! I feel you on the taxes. Thankfully, hubby and I have a friend who is an accountant and handles everything for us! Otherwise, I would be one sad lady.

    • Rubyellen says:

lasandra- yes, we have a tax lady too! but i had to get all the things together to give to her and i am not so organized! 😉

Hello! New blog reader here, I found you via a link from Fat Mum Slim and I've fallen in love with your blog!

Argh! Tax time is always a nightmare. It's almost time here too in the UK and I am dreading it as an Aussie expat, I don't really understand how it works so am always missing bits and pieces with our accountant. Hopefully this year I will be a bit more organized though.

Love those banana muffins, in fact those handwritten instructions have inspired me to make them myself!

  • Oh this is too adorable! 🙂 I love muffins of all sorts, especially the top haha. You girls are so cute and you are so lucky to have them!

    Looks good!
And I've never seen such a beautiful handwritten recipe before!!

This blog brought me back to when my girlies were little and we did school in the kitchen! I love the handwritten recipe!!!

On a more practical note: My mom and dad installed light coloured laminate floors and they are just AWFUL to keep clean. Don't know if that is because they are laminate or what, but just FYI!

have always had wood floors in the 3 places we have lived in… love them!

  • des says:

we painted the floors in our entire house white about a year ago, i too have always loved the whole bright white space look. i have a love/hate relationship with them. we also have a no shoe rule but life happens, hair(!) happens, we sweep everyday! i love how bright they are and the way it makes the light bounce around my house but any sort of dirt, scuff mark, dust, shows up immediately, unlike plain old hardwood, where things are camouflaged a bit. what kind of flooring do you have now? if you have plain sub flooring underneath or even concrete, paint it and live with it for a while before you drop the $$$ on permanent flooring.

    just my two cents 🙂

i think i may have the love/hate relationship with them too! but i think the love would be much more. really leaning towards it!
