One week down (almost), 51 more to go. This week beat the crap out of me. It was a total struggle to get back into routine and everyone was (is) off their game. Last year’s word of the year was “focus,” and sometimes I did good and sometimes I did bad. I know that’s normal. This year’s word will be “Jesus” because that’s really what I need more of, so Jesus it is!
I don’t really have any resolutions. As far as diet and exercise, being married to a dietitian keeps me on the straight and narrow (most of the time), and Ben and I have been going strong exercising together every morning (most mornings) for 5 years now. You’d still never ever see me in a two piece though, I think my body just natural wants to retain some mom belly as my souvenir of birthing. Anyway, last year lots of big things happened like my book, Let’s Sew Together, came out. Ben and I traveled to Singapore, where I taught my first workshop, and we had lots of mini vacations interspersed between too. True’s first tooth came out, then second and third, and fourth, and Brave even lost a couple too! These are just a few of last year things.
I don’t know what this year will have in store. I have no plans so far! Ben and I have a mini family vacation planned in the spring, we’re talking about sending the big girls to Texas for part of the summer, my baby sister comes back in June (yippee!), other than that, I’m game for whatever. We also have our 10 year anniversary coming up, so we are thinking of maybe doing something for that. I’m also perfectly content to celebrate by chilling together at home. Since we got back from Texas early Sunday morning, and pretty much took off running back into reality on Monday, I haven’t had much time to think about this year’s plans.
As far as this space, I want Ben to join in a little bit more. I really enjoy his writing and his take on diet and feeding the family, so I hope you don’t mind if he pops in from time to time. He’s also the ones that leads all the gardening, so he’ll be sharing about those things too. Blogging has changed a lot from when I first started, for both good and bad. I’m thankful for the opportunities that have come because of it, and that this is a place where I can share my struggles as well as the frivolous parts of life, and I’m grateful that you guys are so gracious in accepting both.
Cheers to 2015!
I’m looking forward to following along as you document the new year with your family! It would be great if your husband shared some of his interests; I always love reading about the spouses of bloggers I follow! Jesus needs to be my word this year, too.
And re: the belly, man. I think I had mom belly before I even had my first kid, haha! It’s not a bad thing, though. 🙂
Happy 2015!

I agree, definitely not a bad thing! I act proud to show my girls and tell them how much I love my stretch marks, so that they will hear me being thankful for what I have instead of complaining about my body. I guess they get the message so much that Soul says she can’t wait to have stretch marks when she grows up! hahaha
You’re one of the few bloggers I still follow from the early days. You have stayed true to yourself and haven’t lost your original voice. You are inspirational as a crafter, as a mother, as a human. Authentic to the last. Looking forward to seeing and reading more in 2015.
Plus, I bemoan my baby belly but then my fella said one day, “i like it, it’s where my babies lived before they arrived.” Made me look at it in a different way 🙂
Happy New year xxx
I found your blog this year and I really like it. Look forward to reading more this year!
Hear´s to a great 2015! 🙂
Here´s of course – I´m starting the new year with spelling mishaps, haha! 😀
YAY I would love to hear from Ben, any advice on how to cook healthy family meals kids love would be awesome. I feel like my girl is finally getting over a heavy carb mac n cheese faze and now back on veggies and good proteins so I have to really step up my game and keep the momentum going. I’d love to see how you get the girls helping out in the kitchen too. Happy New Year to you all, excited for where 2015 takes your blog.
I already love your recipes so getting your husband in on the cooking posts too I’m sure would be amazing. I live reading your posts about gardening too. It’s daunting and an investment so reading people’s thoughts on it as they try and learn is great.
I’d love to also see more posts about YOU in 2015. I have been reating your blog for about 3 years and my friends find it interesting that I do because my life looks different to yours (i.e. I don’t have kids!) But actually, the reason I started and kept reading your blog is YOU! I LOVED your outfit posts, which is feels there are less of and always enjoy your wordier posts that detail your thoughts and feelings. Would love to hear more about what books you’re reading, whos style youre digging, hey….even what those workouts are!
Having said that, I understand every blog grows and changes and if that isn’t your focus this year that’s fine too! Either way you have a fan! Happy new year!
you look great! and i would love to hear more from ben about food!

Your blog has been a daily inspiration- your honesty, thoughtfulness in raising your girls, creativity and desire to glorify god has been I encouraging. I’m looking forward to learning more from ben and I guess we’ll all see what the new year will bring!
I love you as a mommy blogger, a Christian, and a person. I’m excited about Ben contributing. Some of us don’t have enough healthy in our lives and could use more tips.
