COZY COMFY

October 9, 2011

the boyfriend jean
These days I am all about comfort and these mocs, these jeans, and this sweater fits the bill perfectly. Actually, O’Neill sent me this sweater and while I haven’t worn anything from that brand since my college days when comfort is all I wanted going from class to class, I am completely in love with it. I am pretty sure I will be living in it all Autumn and Winter. While checking out their other things, I noticed their pieces have such a carefree laid back vibe that is reminiscent of Free People.

I have been on a big jeans kick of late and I have never been a jeans girl. So strange, but I attribute it to post-partum hormones. Don’t get me wrong, I still love dresses, but I have a new appreciation with a comfy pair of jeans. I have even ordered some trouser/wide leg ones from the Gap recently and love those too. I will definitely be wearing more jeans this season.

The temperatures are back up here, but I can’t wait to be dressing up to be cozy again. Hope your Sunday is going swell! Ben had a little surprise for me this weekend and I will be sharing it tomorrow. Love that man so much!!!

HUZZAH!

October 8, 2011

the big threethe big threesilly soulie
Let’s be honest, some days the girls just dress themselves in whatever they want or we don’t even get out of our pajamas. Soul is the only one dressed up and actually it wasn’t even my doing, her big sisters were the ones that changed her! Heck, sometimes they even change her diaper for me.
Brave’s getup for the day is a tank and tutu and True has got on some San Antonio Spurs shorts under her leotard. Oh! And she has like five bows in her hair. I tell you, the girls in this house are kinda fancy!
Learned and links…
– Glow is pretty good in the afternoons, but mornings and through the nights can be a bit tricky.
– Soul is slowly adding more words to her vocabulary, but not very many people understand her.
– Brave lives up to her name as she didn’t cry with any of her shots at her physical this past week.
– I don’t think I really like jeggings on me, but I recently got these and love them!
– You better jump on this giveaway. It is pretty lovely!
– Love these (thanks to Elsie’s outfit)!
Baby-baby is trying to eat Ben, but he has no food for her, so off I go! Enjoy your weekend!!!

BURGERS & COOKIES

October 7, 2011

Suddenly, I was in the mood to cook. It all started with wanting some fresh baked chocolate chip cookies and the cooking continued. My go-to place for recipes is Smitten Kitchen and this chocolate cookie recipe hailed from there. The recipe called for some nuts and since True is allergic, those didn’t make the cut. The cookies came out great, but I think I baked them a bit too long because they are just slightly more crunchy than I prefer. Oh well, will try to get soft and chewy next time.

The girls were pretty jazzed about having some chocolate chip cookies. They had some for an afternoon snack and some as an after dinner snack too.
Then I was feeling a bit more adventurous and planned to cook dinner. Usually, I wait for Ben to come home to figure out what to eat, but the only down thing to that is that the girls get to bed slightly later because it takes us forever to figure out what to cook. This time I thought I would help a bit and get dinner started myself. Plus, I was kinda wanting some yummy burger and in my search, I thought this Wild Mushroom-Cheddar Burger sounded delicious and delicious it was!

At first, when I tasted just the mushrooms, I wasn’t impressed and was thinking I might not like the burger. But when you put all the flavors of the mushrooms, cheddar cheese, meat, and the chipotle ketchup together, the burger was nothing but yum! This recipe will definitely be repeated again. Along with the burger, we had a side of baked sweet potato fries. I am happy to report that everyone’s tummies were happy and full and the girls were in bed right at 7:30!

A QUICK SEW

October 6, 2011

One of my favorite baby things is the moses basket. It has come in handy with every child and its simplicity is stunning. Our basket had pink toile fabric and I really wanted to change it and I finally got around to it. It was the easiest thing to sew as I just sewed up a pillowcase shape for the cushion and it did the job. Now the basket has some pretty blue stripes and by the looks of it, Glow seems to approve of the little change.

Yesterday, was a day when some things got done. I got to sew for five minutes, we worked on reading and writing, there was lots of laying in bed, cuddling, and watching some movies, but maybe there was not so much math. Maybe today we will bake some cookies and the measuring will make up for it. It helped that Ben worked half day so he could take the two middles to the doctor for their physicals in the morning (it was him tweeting this picture). We also had lots of rain and I hope there are many more rainy days to come. A rainy day spent in bed watching movies is definitely a good day.

REVOLVING

October 5, 2011

another dayanother dayanother dayanother day
Just like all the planets revolve around the sun, our days have been revolving around our Glow. School, eating, playing, and sleeping all revolve around her. We get school in when Glow is sleeping and if she isn’t then the girls play (or watch a movie) while I feed. Ben and I go to sleep when she finally knocks out for the night and our dinners can be a bit hurried depending on her mood. Some days lots of things get done and some days nothing gets done, but I am learning to be okay with that. Plus, laying in bed cuddling with my baby is definitely much better than doing laundry. Wouldn’t you agree?
