friday

January 29, 2010

Finally. I am so glad. Aren’t you?
This week was a busy week and it was my first time leaving the house by myself with all three girls in tow. Where did I go you ask? My mom’s house. I guess that makes it no big deal then, huh? It was a fun day and super nice to be out of the house. I left all three girls there to do errands. I would feed Soul, then leave for 2 hours, come back, feed her again, and then leave for another 2 hours. I am her food, so I can’t be too far away! In my every two hour galavants I did some thrifting and errands that I have been longing to do, but don’t dare do with three!
On my thrifting excursion, I got some goodies, one of which is a 1200FF Polaroid camera. I can’t wait to try that out, but first I must get spectra film. Also, I got the globes, well one is from etsy, that are now placed in a perfect place on the old French pie safe. I love them.
loft/studio work area
This room is my studio area, the other half of this room, which I purposely did not picture, is a horrendous mess! My mess. I haven’t quite figured out to make all the space functional. I love this side of the room though. This is the side where my girls paint, color, read, and play while I am working. Though, the room looks clean, don’t let this picture fool you. If you get up close there are marker stains all throughout the carpet. I dream for the day when we can have wood floors!
Time to get my Friday started and wake the girls. Ben and I might go on a date tonight, but it depends if we have babysitters. I hope so. I really want to get out with my Ben! I love just being with my husband!!!
That’s all folks! Happy Friday!!!

winter mantel

December 14, 2009

Our winter mantel isn’t quite done. Something about the placing makes me feel a bit unfinished, but we just haven’t figured out what to add to it. I had an idea of a little homemade village amidst the teensies trees, but we will see if we have time to do that. Time for us is a bit different these days with a newborn, but for now this will have to do.

I have some things cut out to sew a “Merry Christmas” banner, but I haven’t been in the mood to sew of late. I just like cozying up on the couch with all my girls nearby (and Benny) and some sort of movie on and just crocheting. It is such a cozy winter thing to do!
Do you have any special little vignettes displayed on your winter mantel?

messy monday

February 2, 2009

Rats! Thankfully, my messes don’t come with rats, but here it is and my confession:
I have a disheveled mail pile…

mail pile
My unorganized bedside table…

my bedside table
My messy pile underneath my unorganized bedside table…
under my bedside table
Pile of need to iron (and a pile of unused bags in the background)…
my stack waiting to be ironed
And the most embarrassing of all, my horrendously messy closet….
so embarrassing!

The rest of the house is clean (kinda), not so much my bedroom, most specifically my closet. Mind you, those are all clean clothes that need to be put away and half of them I don’t fit anymore cause they are my pre-kids stuff. (For some reason, unbeknownst to me, all my clothes shrunk after having kids… it’s not me, it’s the clothes.) Also, I have a morning ritual of trying on a million things (and being in a rush), so they all end up that way. So Bad. I know. Trust me. Just imagine my girls’ closets looked similar to this, but I just recently cleaned, purged, and put everything away, so no more mess there. My goal is that by the end of this week, this closet will be clean and emptied of much that I don’t use, which is probably a lot. Wish me luck on that one…

So yeah. I am normal. Maybe worse than normal cause I seriously doubt anyone’s closet is as bad as mine. I guess here is my dirty, I mean clean, laundry for all to see. If my skin was fair, I would for sure be red… bright red.
Well, hope I didn’t scare anyone away and that we would still remain friends. It’s just organizing my closet is last on my list. I would much rather be playing with my girls or sewing, plus no one usually sees it, until now…
Happy Messy Monday!!! If you are normal or abnormal, or whatever way you want to spin it, just leave a link to your messes on this post…

playing house

January 29, 2009

There hasn’t been too much crafting in this part of the world because I am playing house, rather, I am cleaning my house.

Despite what may be seen on the house tours, my house is very, very messy. Horrendously messy. I am itching to open up shop again, but before I do so, I want my house to be clean and organized. That means no pile of junk just sitting on random corners. Or no “Monica-like” secret closet in my bedroom. You should see my bedroom closet. So. Bad. Really. I almost want to take a picture and show you, but it really is much too embarrassing… seriously.

every little girl's dream
home sweet home
i wish mine was this clean

This is a cute little vintage house, which is a Christmas present bought by grammie and grumpy from etsy. It is clean and has no secret closet. Well if it did, I wouldn’t know, cause it’s secret, right? The house is actually a pretty good size and is made out of tin (I think, something metal-ish). What is even more lovely is that the girls love it and so do I, (after all, I was the one who heart-ed it) and it has become an integral part of our daily play. Remember our kokeshi’s… they live here. Along, with an ornament turned doll from Anthro. So cute to see my little babes play with this!

Dang, it is so much fun being a little girl…

I will announce the contest winner on Friday. I can’t wait to see which one I get to create!
************************************************************************
Okay, let’s face it. We are all real and aren’t as neat as our blogs may be, so now is your chance to confess and share your messes!!! I declare this Monday, February 2nd, Messy Monday and if you want to join, just post pictures of your secret messes you keep hidden away on your blog. I will do the same. I am a bit nervous because really my closet is bad! Really bad!!! You will see a whole new side of me. I know my best friend, Lin, is laughing excitedly at this thought because when she comes over she always comments on the side of me people don’t see. She says she knows the real me. Also, in order to share it one another, on my monday post, just leave a comment linking to your mess, so that we can all laugh and be humbled together. I can hardly wait to see our messes! Is anyone else excited about this? If you want to get more people in on it, just chat away about it on your blog too and link to the instructions here! If I knew how to use flickr well, maybe we can get a group together, not sure how to do that though! Okay, well, until monday…

a little funky

December 9, 2008

Mummysam, an ultra cool & talented artist who will be at the BUST Holiday Craftacular this coming weekend, commissioned me to create a funky, vintage-like, hair piece for herself. I must say that I was excited about the challenge and this was the result…

Rose-ish type flowers using wool felt and some free motion embroidery. I am quite pleased with the result and want to try my hand at a few more for myself and Christmas presents. I always have my hair in a ponytail these days, so maybe I should give it a little pizzazz!
Maybe I could try some teeny ones as well… we’ll see.

And you if you weren’t tired of seeing my house already, I have one more interview to share with you for CafeMom’s Show & Tell Home Tour. I am so elated to have my house featured along the likes of SouleMama, Hula Seventy, and Fine Little Day… these women have fabulous homes! In this interview, things are a bit different cause the house has been decorated a bit for Christmas (just a bit) and you can see other parts of the house as well (the non-messy parts). So come on over and take another peek inside!
It is kinda funny cause all these interviews just happen to come out consecutively, though most of them have been in the works for awhile. I guess Sheri said it best when she said, “You are on the super home tour circuit.” This little circuit has been a lot of fun and I am really so grateful!
P.S. Don’t mind my messy hair.

two cookies and six grams of fat

December 8, 2008

These Trader Joe’s Candy Cane Joe-Joe’s are super duper delicious, but they made my Ben freak a little. He said, “1 serving is 2 cookies, 6 grams of fat and 140 calories. You can only eat 2 (a day)!” Thankfully, there is no hydrogenation in them, otherwise, they would be off limits. Well, that is my loving dietitian husband for you…

Anyways, I had to try them after seeing Jen’s post and luckily today T.J.’s was giving samples of them. I took one bite and fell in love… Jen was so right. I am hooked, you really ought to try them too. Thanks Jen for getting me in trouble!

Speaking of cookies, I did a little interview for Cookie Magazine’s Nesting blog and it just came out today. I love all their house features, so the fact we are there too makes me smile big! So to see the True and Brave’s rooms again or to read me babble a little, go here…
I am really thankful for all the love our house has been getting in blogland considering only I know how messy our house really is! I hope you all aren’t sick of my house just yet…
Happy Monday and I will be eating some of my yummy cookies… but only 2 (well, maybe three)!!!
