muumuu

March 23, 2016

Muumuu dresses are definitely not the most flattering, but they are the most comfortable. To make it feel a little less frumpy, I like to wear it with funky shoes. Ben surprised me with these Rachel Comey clogs a month or so ago. I was eyeing them during the winter clearance sale at Kickpleat, but I couldn’t get myself to spend the money and put it in my shopping cart. He’s such a sneaky guy and pays attention to when I talk about things I like. I was about to get in bed one evening to relax, and I saw this cute note wrapped around the shoe box.

I’ve got a soft spot for baskets, but you probably already know that. This oval basket was from French Baskets and it is so awesome (this is the larger one from the one here). It holds so much stuff, which works great when you have 4 little ones that like to throw all their junk in your purse.

on me: dress, thrifted (vintage here, new there). clogs, rachel comey (if you want them in black, they are on super sale here).

mr. leprechaun left a pot of gold

March 22, 2016

Last Wednesday night, the girls were chattering in excitement about how the Leprechaun was coming. *insert wide-eyed emoji* I kept meaning to sneak out that evening to pick up something for them, but then we had a guest over, then got caught up with working on my projects. I only remembered it was St. Patrick’s Day right before bed. Thankfully, I’m an early riser and was able to come up with something in the morning. I pulled whatever extra treats I had stashed for a rainy day, and put it together in a little “pot of gold,” along with a paper rainbow mobile.

They woke up and saw the card from Mr. Leprechaun and ran all over the house searching for the rainbow. Soul was the one who found it; the girls all giggled in delight at the treats Mr. Leprechaun left them.

See past St. Paddy’s Day celebrations here.

art class

March 21, 2016

You’ve already seen True’s art here, but I had to share the rest of the signs she made. They are taped all over the house and they are so cool! She really loves creating, helping me with craft projects I’m working on, or watching me make something. It’s fun to watch her evolve as a little artist.

easter baskets

March 20, 2016

We’ve never actually given the girls Easter baskets and this year will be the first time! I’ve typically used these bags, or we did surprise balls one year, so I’m excited about actually giving them baskets. I know Easter is a week away, but if you still need some ideas, I hope these help or you can bookmark them for next year.

I love this mini oval basket from French Baskets (there are so many good ones in this shop!). Shipping is pretty speedy, but you might want to shoot them an email if you do plan to order one in time for Easter.

These two are mini baskets I found at the thrift store. Every time I go, I always keep an eye out for these vintage baskets, so next time, keep your eye out too! Check out this one that is almost exactly like that green one, and this fruit flower one would be adorable for holding Easter goodies.

Of course, African bolga baskets make perfect easter baskets too!

All these baskets will definitely get more use way past Easter! I’m filling ours with a carrot surprise, this How to Dress a Bunny
doodle book
, and Easter eggs with sweet treats.

huzzah!

March 19, 2016

This week’s learned, links, and thankfulness…

Oh man, Monday was rough though. I’m glad we have finally all adjusted to the time change and we are loving the longer days.

I get so much more done when I wake up at 5am. I’m more motivated to check things off the to-do list.

Hosting a loop giveaway with Boden and several other lovely ladies. For your chance to win $750/£750 to Boden, get all the details here. It’s really easy, but ends tonight, so be sure to get your comment in!

I will gladly devour garlic herb and cheese bread.

These Ollie Blocks are so cool! My kids love blocks and would no doubt have so much fun with this one. They have a kickstarter going on if you want to help Ollie Blocks come to fruition.

A geometric paper mobile would make a fun backdrop for a party.

This week was insanely busy. We had a photoshoot at our house on Thursday for Mollie Makes, and then I’ve been busy crafting up a storm for the Family Fun shoot on Tuesday. While it has been chaos, these things are blessing and I am extremely grateful.

I’ve been trying to improve the way I pray based on the encouragements from this article, “Inject Your Prayer List with Life.”

Why Toys All Around Our House Don’t Bother Me Anymore” is something I needed to read. I’m a neat freak and I get mess stress often, so this reminder of how joyous, while still chaotic, this season of life is really help refocus my heart.

Time to put away laundry and clean up our bedroom! Have a good weekend friends!

simple dreamcatcher

March 16, 2016

This dreamcatcher was a baby shower gift I made for a friend. I debated adding the web inside the hoop, but I liked the simplicity of the cotton rope around the hoop. I made tassels from some of the cotton rope I dyed a couple months ago. Making this gave me the itch to learn how to macrame. Maybe once things calm down here (I’ve got a shoot at the house this week and craft styling another shoot next week, and then taxes), I will take this macrame CreativeBug class to learn.
