We used the Kid Made Modern tape we got from Target, but I am sure you can use washi tape and probably get some fun patterns in there too. I just handed True and Brave the tape and asked them to make a picture that tells a story. Happily, they got to ripping up the tape and made a mosaic of sorts with it.
True’s (the bottom one) is about the car on the road trip and everything she saw… mountains, rivers, building, cacti, and the sky. I think if you look closely, you can even see her name in it, which I don’t think I noticed until now. Brave (the top one) says hers is a big cactus. I love how all the bold, bright colors came out and I just got the frames from Michael’s craft store.
I really do think kid art is just so rad. They don’t really think and just do and there is just something so natural about it. We have some blank walls that need filling and I am loving filling it up with the girls’ goods. I am a bit biased, but I do think they are quite good. And oh my! You should totally see True when she is in the zone… she is quite a serious little artist and she takes her sweet ‘ole time.
p.s. in case you were wondering… the deer head is from uncommon goods and can be found here (mine is bucky sr.).
* my friend and designer misha lulu is having a good sale here.
How fun, you always seem to have fun ideas for great things to do with your little ones 🙂
I have been thinking lately about things I can do with my little girl, she is only 1 right now but I still want to try and cultivate her creativity 🙂
Omigosh, that photo of True covered in tape melts me! Love doing washi tape art with my little gal – she always turns out such cool abstract designs. The kid made modern tape is so bright and fun for it…need to get some of that!
Ruby! I am loving all these fancy changes on your website, wow, this is so legit! All these art pieces are going to look so beautiful in your home 🙂 By the way thanks for the link for the deer head, I have been wanting to find an affordable one for a really long time, and I kept google-ing “where to find affordable fake animal heads” and you can just imagine what types of things I have been getting… LOL!!.
What a fabulous idea! I’m sure my 3year old son would love this. Thanks so much for sharing. 🙂
Hi there,
Just wanted to comment on how fresh and bright your new site is, and your photos…love the look!
Just curious, what program do you use to add text to your photos, is this an app?
Also, what program do you use to edit your photos?
I really enjoy perusing through your site and the feel that your home and blog has!
Oh fun! I just bought that tape set to play with my little man. Hopefully he will like it since he love stickers. Your girls are adorable.
I love it, so bright and fun! I’m excited for my daughter to start making artwork when she gets a little older!
I can’t wait until I have kids to do things like this. It’s really great that you hang their art around your house all framed and professional looking! I bet they get a huge kick out of it and it must do wonders for their creativity!!
Next stop, cardboard deer heads…!
Loves those frames! Where can I find something similar to those? 🙂
Thanks so much for this great idea–it kept my kids and my visiting nieces and nephew happy and busy this weekend!
What a great idea!
It doesn’t take that much for children to create a masterpiece. Their little minds are like amazing robot-artists. LOVE it!
BEST IDEA EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have some of that Target washi tape — gonna get on this art project with my kiddo asap!!
What a great idea, these are adorable! Great wall art!
I love this idea – I always tape the paper or card down to the table before my son starts painting but he is obsessed with the actual tape. Can’t wait to try this!
I know this if off topic but I’m looking into starting my own blog and was curious what all is required to get setup?
I’m assuming having a blog like yours would cost a pretty penny?
I’m not very web savvy so I’m not 100% certain. Any recommendations or advice would
be greatly appreciated. Many thanks
