pillow with vintage fabric
I got some just for me sewing time last week and I made this little pillow, which is now propped on my bed. It is made from some vintage fabric gifted from some friends a few years ago. I never wanted to cut it cause it was so pretty and I could never decide what to make with it, but really, I think a pillow was just the perfect thing.
Today is a busy day trying to get loose ends tied up for the workshop tomorrow. I am so thankful in God’s timing that the girls had VBS at a local church because the free mornings gave me time to do lots of doctor appointments, errand running, cleaning, prepping for Saturday, and relaxing a bit. It is easier to get things done without three little girls around, but it has also been slightly difficult because they have been way off schedule. Next week is for re-programming.
I have lots of things I am behind in sharing and documenting and hopefully I can get to that next week. Until then, here are my learned and links for this week…
– Listening to this message and realizing that if you think you get it, you probably really don’t.
– Soulie is a crank monster when she is off schedule.
– The baby inside me is a wiggly one in the middle of the night… uh oh!
– My forehead is the hardest part of my body to relax. Once it is, then putting myself in hypnosis is much easier.
– Brave is only shy because she follows True, but I think she will eventually break out of that and just not be shy at all.
– If I don’t drink enough water, my legs hurt. Ben says it has to do with my circulation or something.
– I am obsessed with wooden soled shoes. I want these, these, and these (oh to dream)!
– The 99 cent store is really such a wonderful place!
Happy Friday friends! I have a fun, albeit busy, weekend up ahead and I will be back with loads of pictures of it next week.

happy bunting

July 21, 2011

Danni and I have been working hard prepping for the workshop on Saturday. The goody bags will be awesome and we wanted to include something especially from Oh, Hello Friend and Cakies. So from me, I made each a recipient a little “happy bunting” just like the one I made for True eons ago. I think a little “happy bunting” can make make a special space a little more happy!

Today is a full day of errands and working on some last to-dos for Saturday. We are so excited about it and since many of you emailed us asking about our next one, don’t worry, we already have another date in the works! This time we promise to tell you far more in advance.
Happy Thursday friends! What are you up to today?

hypnobirth class 3

July 20, 2011

hypnobirth class 3
I am now learning how to put myself in hypnosis faster.
I had a good conversation with Dr. AnnaLynn about how my words will effect my thoughts and actions. I am really working hard in re-wiring some of my labor thoughts and right now, all I can think of is this little one will slip right out of me as I slowly breathe he/she down.
I have been reading my HypnoBirthing book and it has been immensely helpful in helping me realize that pain is also a state of mine and that being pregnant (though we can be whiny, cranky women) isn’t a bad condition, rather a good one to be in. I have got about 9 weeks left and will keep enjoying every last bit.
Last class it was easy to go in hypnosis fast when Dr. AnnaLynn is leading us via skype. In fact, last class, Ben fell asleep once again. When it was time to open our eyes, Ben didn’t budge. I think he is quite enjoying our hypnosis sessions because it is obvious he gets really relaxed!
I am getting better at visualizing my “place”. It is a dreamy place and I will work on adding to it. Actually, it is kinda fun pretending in your head! When I tell my sister everything I see in hypnosis, she gets excited and says she wants to try it.
I have been practicing at home, but not as much as I would like, but when Ben is trying to do it, for some reason, I end up laughing. We follow a script and he is reading it and just as my eyes get heavy and he lifts my arm, I start laughing! I can’t stop. It is kinda funny, but frustrating. We will keep trying and practicing and maybe we need to use a different script because that part has me in hysterics every time we have tried, unbeknownst to me why.
I am pretty excited about labor. Ben and I are working hard at preparing ourselves mentally, emotionally, spiritually and physically for this. We can’t wait to actually get there. It kinda feels like I am training for a marathon.
Class 4 is tonight and I can’t wait to see what we learn this time…

hello hgtv

I had the pleasure of working on a little project for HGTV. They needed some ideas for party favors and this is what I came up with… Petite Pie Party Favors wrapped up in some vintage hankies. Sounds cute and yummy right?!

See my party favor and some other ones here and to get my own recipe and instructions on how to create your own Petite Pie Favor from scratch (well, the dough is from scratch), check it out here.

This project sent a whole slew of baking in the house and there was a lot of pie eating. I think my girls were pretty happy about that.
Anyone else have a sudden craving for pie? Cause I suddenly do. Serve it up with some ice cream please!

vintage here, vintage there: beach day

July 19, 2011

We live in Southern California so we are relatively close to the beach, but we never really go, so today, we seized the moment and went!
The girls were pretty ecstatic about our destination. Right after breakfast, we got them all ready to head out, but of course with three of them that takes us about… um… 2 and half hours to get out of the house. Oh boy! We had lunch packed, beach toys ready, blankets wrapped and made our way.
I did try to get True to wear her vintage swimsuit, but it was still a wee bit too big, so they settled on ones they already had. Though we did make sure to outfit them in vintage dresses with their swimsuits underneath.

I am in love with True’s romper. I would love to make more for them or find more. And really, Brave just always makes the best faces (see here or here).

The girls were all at my parents’ house over the weekend and probably what contributed to leaving a little later in the morning was that it takes them a bit of reprogramming when they get back to our house. I wish there was a reset button when they came home from their time with the grandparents because then things would be so much smoother. Nevertheless, we are so grateful to my parents for taking on the task of watching our 3 rascals! It is not an easy job. Love you mom and dad!!!

I tried to put my swimsuit on. Yeah… didn’t work so well and I have never bought a pregnancy one, so a dress did the job. This baby belly is really quite a big one now. Ben says it looks like a dodge ball (I have lots of stretch marks and lines) and he says we should name the baby “Dodge”. Kidding. Really. We still have no name and still have not slipped up on our secret. Okay, I did once with someone, but they didn’t catch it, so the only who knows is still Ben, me, and Soulie.

None of the girls were quite thrilled about the water. Brave and True went for a little bit, but didn’t last long and Soul was wailing when I even got her close. What they did love was playing with sand and building sand castles. True also got buried in the sand by her Papi. Soul stayed on the quilt the entire time or was carried around. She will love it I know she will, it will just take a few more visits.

My only vintage in this outfit are my shoes. This belly makes figuring out what to wear harder and harder these days, but I won’t complain too much because feeling this little being inside squirm and squirm makes it all worth it. I am enjoying every last bit because this will be my last pregnancy, at least as far as our plans our concerned. Now, God’s plans can sometimes be a different story.

We all had a grand time out. I wish days were like this everyday, but Ben goes back to work tomorrow. Boo. Though, I am very thankful he has a job. I just like being with him all the time, so we get sad when he is at work. Ben and I are going to try and plan more beach trips on Saturday mornings. Well, we don’t have very many Saturdays left until baby comes so we better get planning…
Rachel’s Brett is home, so it is so good to see him back in her pictures. You can see how sharp he looks in uniform and how big the rest of the Denbows’ smiles are now that he is home! Head “over there” and see their happy family dressed to the nines!

Only two spots left (CLASS FULL) friends and don’t worry “our love story” will be picking up soon (in case you were wondering)…
