This week’s learned, links, and thankfulness…

We’re loving the Olympics, so I’m thankful for when the girls and I all pile in my bed and watch together. I love serenading them with the national anthem when USA gets gold.

Thankful my mom celebrated another year in her life! And she never ages.

Love these pastel colored macrame.

Caramel churro chex mix sounds good. I’d happily be snacking on that.

School is coming up soon and I’m finalizing my curriculum choices for the year.

We are enjoying the last bits of summer with lots of swimming.

The whole house got sick with some sort of bug a week ago, and we all took turns with it. Praise the Lord we are all back to enjoying our temporary good health again.

I want to paint the rest of the downstairs and give it a fresh coat of white, but I’m intimidated. I know I did all of upstairs, but starting again downstairs makes me nervous. Gotta find that motivation again.

We’ve got lots of garden projects up the wazoo, so that’s what we will be working on this weekend. Happy weekending friends!

This week’s learned, links, and thankfulness…

We are closer to being done with the stairs. Thankful that it’s looking pretty close to what I imagined. I shared a pic on snapchat (username: mycakies), if you want to follow me there!

Many blessings this weekend with being able to do a special getaway with Soul and Glow. It’s also our 11th anniversary!

True and Brave come back in two weeks!!! We are so excited to have the gang back together, but we still have lots to do to get their room ready.

Love Wildy Co. and everything they stand for. My girls would love this navy dress.

That new Gia Coppola &  Everlane collection looks so classic.

Put some white legos in this mid century basket and it looks like a sleek way to display toys. We don’t have legos, so maybe they are too small and would go through the basket, Maybe this basket would be better. I love how Tara displays hers.

On a more important subject, my heart has been heavy for all the sad news this week. “This American Moment” article by John Piper speaks well to the current tension in America. It’s important for all of us to see black lives matter. We are all beautifully created in God’s image; we are all image bearers meant to glorify Him. Black, white, and all other beautiful cultures God created, those with disabilities, and yes, the unborn too… we all matter. God is holy and created all of us in His image, we all sin and fall short of His perfection, and are thus separated from Him. But Jesus… the innocent man who died for the guilty, for all of us, gave His life, so we could live. He reconciles those, who repent and believe, back to God. God’s Word is truth and Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life. Life and truth is very precious. Thus, every soul matters.

This week’s learned, links, and thankfulness…

The floors upstairs are all done! Woot! But the stairs aren’t done yet (see here). It’s getting there, but who knew going white was going to be so difficult.

Kind of sad to move those little beds of Soul and Glow on, but they are graduating to the big girl beds, so we have to say goodbye. #staylittleforeverplease

Thankful for my morning quiet times, but I have to admit my heart has been having a difficult time focusing. I’m praying God give me the desire to understand and dwell on His word.

Happy to have my studio put back together and now I can get to crafting and sewing again. It looks especially pretty with the wood floors.

Swooning for this adorable denim jumpsuit.

Thinking about this rug for my bedroom (on my side of the bed).

I think the girls would get a kick out of these bath bombs for bath time.

I wanna stay in bed and read a book tomorrow. Anyone have any suggestions?

Enjoy the long weekend friends!

This week’s learned, links, and thankfulness…

The scene above has been happening a lot this week, as well as a lot of watching on the iPad. We’ve had a heatwave, so we haven’t wanted to venture outside, and then with the crew working on installing our floors, we can’t leave the house. Once all this house stuff is done, we are definitely going out for more adventures.

Loved watching Valley Uprising on Netflix. The whole concept of free solo climbing is mind boggling. I’d say that is definitely insane. One day, on the new heavens and the new earth, I’d love to try. 🙂

Thankful for such a fun dinner with the neighbors. It only took us 9 years of living next to each to finally all have dinner together. I want to get to know my neighbors more!

I don’t think Ben would go for it, but I really love this pink bathroom.

I’m all heart eyes for this denim romper and this striped jumpsuit. I also want to sew one for myself.

If we “Love God Most, We Will Love Others Best.” YES!

It’s been my prayer this week that I would meditate and be in awe of God’s holiness. This verse has stood out to me… Isaiah 5:16 “But the Lord of hosts is exalted in justice, and the Holy God shows himself holy in righteousness.” Amen. Amen. Amen. I’m thankful for Holy God.

Have a great weekend friends! We still have a couple more days of construction here and then I get to clean all the dust. Then, stairs go in later this week. I’m so excited, though my savings account probably isn’t.

This week’s learned, links, and thankfulness…

I learned that painting stair spindles is no easy task. I don’t think I ever want to do that again.

I’m back to my 5am wake-ups and quiet time. Praise the Lord Jesus! My soul has sorely been lacking food. I’ve felt a numbness to God and His word, and was choosing to binge watch and fill my soul and mind with useless things. My thought life was starting to feel the detrimental effects of that.

Soul has been so helpful around her. I’m thankful for this special time that allows her opportunities to stretch herself. She goes downstairs to sweep the kitchen without me telling her. I’ve been so encouraged how she steps up the big sister role when her big sisters aren’t here.

Loving the new striped dresses on Everlane. I want the red one.

I want to make s’mores krispy treats with the girls.

These yellow slides are so cheery.

Gorgeous pouf… please come magically appear in my house.

Read “Little Eyes are Watching in Worship.”

It’s been quieter in this space because I was sick and then renovations. I plan on starting to share posts of our long road trip this week, so stay tuned for that. I can’t wait until July when all major renovations should be done and I get to enjoy our new floors and just decorate. Hip, hip hooray!!!

This week’s learned, links, and thankfulness…

We are thankful True and Brave made it to Texas safe. My mom accompanied them, so they get to spend a special weekend with both grandmothers together. It looks like they’ve been having a blast on all the pictures they’ve been texting us.

I’m excited to get some special time with Soul and Glow. We’ve been having lots of dance and singing parties together.

Love this child’s room. Looking for some inspiration in redecorating all the girls’ rooms.

Eesshh… these clogs are so lovely.

Summer 25% off sale going on at my fave Ms. Tips shop. Someone please snatch up this bag.

I have always loved these paper origami lights. It would look cute in Soul and Glow’s room.

I’m learning how to let things go. I’m definitely not a hoarder, but also it does pain me to move some sentimental things along. There’s just no way to keep these things forever and I sure can’t take it with me when I die.

Glow is sick. She was vomiting all day yesterday. Please pray for her to feel better. 🙁

So thankful to the Lord that we finally have a church family and are members at First Southern Baptist Church Bellflower. Come visit if you are looking for a church or happen to be in the area!

Enjoy the weekend friends!
